The disciplines we follow
Prayer is essential to know where God is leading you and where God is asking you to lead your family and friends.
Prayer disciplines:
Praying a daily holy hour, including a period of silent prayer.
Reading and reflecting on scripture.
Asceticism consists of acts of self-denial. The ascetic disciplines laid out in Exodus 90 help us to detach from things of this world and grow closer to God—from that which will never truly satisfy to the only one who does.
You target ascetic practices such as:
Taking short, cold showers.
Practicing regular, intense exercise.
Abstaining from alcohol, desserts, sweets, and eating between meals.
Abstaining from television, movies, televised sports, and video games.
Using computers only for work, school, and essential tasks (such as paying bills).
Using mobile devices only for essential communications.
Observing Wednesdays and Fridays as days of fasting (for example, abstaining from meat, eating smaller meals).
You journey through Exodus 90 as a member of a fraternity -- a small group of between 5 and 9 men. The fraternity is an essential part of the Exodus 90 journey, providing mutual support, encouragement, and authentic community.
You stay in touch with your fraternity through:
Attending one-hour weekly fraternity meetings to pray, share brief "field reports", and discuss common action items.
Checking in with another fraternity member throughout the week.
